We hope this morning finds you all well.  By the looks of these pictures, you can tell Eric is keeping a full schedule.  Walking unassisted, core training, Mexican dominoes, and even a shave and a shower.  With each passing day goals are set, a plan is executed and accomplishments are achieved.  Lather, rinse, repeat.

Each time a person drops by, Eric's face lights up with that sweet endearing smile we have all grown accustomed to over the years.  To see that the injury did not rob him of his gentle nature is touching and awe-inspiring.  It speaks to the persevering spirit of Eric.

Eric is surrounded by close friends and family during the day while his brothers and sisters in the fire service continue to watch over him in the evenings.  This provides Eric much needed reassurance and allows him to get some solid rest.

We hope you have a wonderful weekend.  Your continued support has really made a significant difference in his healing.

Through all of the ups and downs I know how lucky I am to have my own support system. With the support these women give me, I am able to be a great wife and mother. Thank youAlicia
Good morning:

Eric is really enjoying all the time he is spending with his family.

Today was ladies day. He spent time with his cousins Kristin and Colleen. His mother in law Stephanie continues to be there, supporting Eric and Alicia.
His therapy schedule is becoming longer and more intense as he enters his second week of rehab. He continues to impress all the staff with his incredible gains.

Thank you to Firehouse subs and all who attended the fundraiser. We are truly blessed to be a part of such a wonderful community.

***Update 01/31/15 6pm***

Today brought a special reunion for an amazing, brave and strong little girl.

Harper was reunited with her daddy for the first time since the accident. Alicia remarked "I feel like we are complete again". It was a sweet, tender and emotional moment in an already eventful journey. Harper has incredible role models in her parents and extended family. Drawing on their strength, Harper has displayed courage and bravery through it all.

Rehab continues to progress well. Eric is slowly being introduced solids and liquids into his diet, relying less and less on his PEG line. Another positive development was the removal of his trach.

For all those sporting a mustache in support of Eric, we have an update .....It was shaven off....much to the delight of Alicia's mom......and probably a few others smile emoticon

Hello all,

It's a little late, but Eric continues to work hard at his physical therapy during the day. Occupational, speech and physical therapy offers it's challenges, but Eric handles it with grace and determination. Although it is not the gym he is accustomed to, Eric is fully embracing his new workout regime. The TBI has challenged Eric to relearn basc skills such as stadning up straight, eating, and writing. If you know Eric, these are simply obstacles that he will soon overcome. Eric's bright and vibrant soul continues to shine birght, inspiring all of those who interact with him.

If you hevent already seen, there are 2 ways to support Eric and his family.

Eric was transferred to the acute rehab facility today. He was transferred by his brothers and sisters at Folsom Fire. Alicia says he is getting all settled into his new digs. The staff is renown for their amazing care and it has alreadybeen noticed. Eric will have an intense and busy rehab schedule. Due to this, visitation is still limited must be approved by family first.

Thank you once again for all the messages of love and encouragement.

***Update 01/25/15 3:30 pm***

Good afternoon.

Eric is flourishing under the care and attention he is receiving at Kaiser. Although still non-verbal, he is able to motion a thumbs up or thumbs down on a fairly consistent basis. Let's just say there have been a few laughs with the question and answers sessions that have ensued.

Additionally, Eric will soon be transferred to the Acute Rehab facility. Once again, Folsom Fire will have the honor to transfer him. Alicia remarked today that "through all this, Eric still finds a way to let his personality shine" and she referred to how Eric put out his hand for a fist bump as someone was leaving the room. The gesture brought a smile to everyone.

The continued support from his family, fire family and friends has been profound.

Good evening.

We would like to remind everyone that Eric's wife and family have elected to utilize only Facebook and http://ericwilliamsfolsom.blogspot.com/ as their means of updating Eric's status to the community.  We appreciate the sincere interest in Eric's health and make a concerned effort to deliver timely and appropriate information to you all.  We also realize that there is media interest in his story.  We have fielded several requests for information from multiple media outlets in the area.  To date, the family has politely denied their requests for interviews and statements and referred interested parties to the current channels we have already set up.

The information presented in any media story is not sanctioned by his family.  You are encouraged to follow the Facebook page and website for the most up to date and accurate information.

Once again, thank you for all your support.  We hope to have an update for you tomorrow.

***Update 01/22/15 7:30pm***
Good evening.  Eric had a very eventful week.  If you recall, he was recently transferred to Kaiser South.  The latest is that he was just transferred out of their ICU and into another room.  The fact that he is out of ICU is a reflection of Eric’s incredible strength and determination in combination with the amazing care he has received at Sutter and Kaiser.  Also, his family’s perseverance is a reflection of the strength you have provided them.  It is truly a remarkable thing to witness:  an entire community has rallied around Alicia, Harper and his family.
Eric is receiving therapy daily with the ultimate goal of being placed into acute REHAB.  We will continue to make every effort to update you as things progress.  Also, Eric is not having visitors unless authorized by family. We appreciate your understanding.

Have a wonderful night.

This amazing community has already raised over $7000 for the Williams family. We are still receiving inquiries about their GoFundMe page. Here is the direct link to their page. Thank you again for your continued support.http://www.gofundme.com/EricWilliamsTBI
***Update 01/20/15 9:00pm***
The team at Kaiser South Sacramento is pushing Eric mentally and physically. If you know Eric then you know how much he loves a good challenge. Eric is making remarkable progress every day.
This morning Eric participated in some speech and physical therapy. This is to prepare him for rehab hopefully soon.
Also this morning, Holly Campbell, a CMT graciously came by the room and showed us ways that we can assist in Eric's healing process through massage.
Even though his visitors are still limited we are encouraging people to visit the family. It is honestly the support of this great community that is pulling them through. Let's all appreciate the "little things" that we are blessed with. And don't forget to ‪#‎stashitup4eric‬ !

Update 01/19/15

Eric was transferred to Kaiser South today.  He is located in the South Tower.  Alicia and family are still welcoming visitors, and encourage you to come down.  Eric's visitation is still on a limited basis however.

He did very well during the transfer.  Folsom Fire Medic 35 handled his transfer while Engine 38 provided an escort.  Roseville Fire Engines 5 and 6 saw Eric off from Sutter Roseville while AMR and Sacramento Fire Station 7 welcomed him at Kaiser South.  Also, thank you to Metro Fire for providing a cover engine in Folsom.  Alicia was very touched by their presence.

Eric remains in a coma but was able to give a thumbs up and point with his right hand today.  These movements are still somewhat periodic.

Thank you again for your support and interest in Eric.  We truly appreciate all the prayers and positive thoughts.

***Update 01/17/15 3:30 pm***

Good afternoon everyone. Thank you once again for all the wonderful messages and encouraging words you have shared either through text, FaceBook etc. They really have a powerful and positive impact on Alicia, Harper and the rest of his family. It is amazing to see all the pictures that surround Eric in his hospital room. Those photos show how many love him while demonstrating all the lives he has touched. We are all better people because of Eric.

Eric's stay at Sutter Roseville Medical Center is going well. He does remain in comatose state in the ICU but his last CT scan showed no additional swelling, so the ICP monitor has been removed. He is showing some movement and will periodically follow a simple command. For example, he was recently asked to give a thumbs up, to which he raised his right hand and gave one. Please keep in mind though that this occurs periodically. We continue to hope and pray that his healing persists in a positive direction. Alicia is amazed everyday with the Sutter Roseville medical staff and the incredible attention and care he is receiving at the facility.

You are all encouraged to come by and visit with family and friends. It was discussed today that even though this is a difficult time for Eric and his family, its been an unexpected blessing to spend extra time together with loved ones. Reflecting on Eric, sharing a few laughs and shedding some tears has been remarkable and has really helped move us all along this journey.

***UPDATE 01/13/15***

Also, it sounds like Eric is gonna be sporting a mustache while he recovers. A bunch of us will be supporting Eric and rocking a mustache with him! Join us and support Eric with a 'stache. ‪#‎Stacheitup4Eric‬

***UPDATE 01/12/15***

Good morning everyone.  Eric continued to show progress throughout the night.  This morning we were told that Eric is no longer in a medically induced coma, yet remains in a natural coma.  He is being continuously monitored and cared for by the incredible staff here at Sutter Roseville Medical Center.

The family would once again like to thank everyone for all the support and offers to help.  All current needs are being met at the moment, however there is anticipation that other needs will arise in the future.  Please continue to check back here.

Finally, take a moment to hug your loved ones today and tell them how much they mean to you.
I just wanted to take a moment to personally thank everyone. As I have said to some already, your kind words and prayers are keeping me upright during this chapter in my life. There have been nights that I have stayed up reading everyone of the messages on here, my Facebook, and text. The amount of love and support in these messages has pulled me through the night till the next day. I can not imagin where I would be in this process without the support from my friends, family, City of Folsom Fire Department (fire family,), CrossFit Anywhere, and the AMAZING nurses and staff at SRMC. You are not only telling me to take care of myself, but how strong I am. But honestly YOU are the ones giving me the strength. Thank you again. I love every single one of you.

***ANNOUNCEMENT  01/11/15***

http://www.gofundme.com/EricWilliamsTBI

Good evening everyone.  Eric has continued to show remarkable strength and progress these last 18 hours.  The medical staff once again stated that he is doing “good” and with “no setbacks”.  We know that “good” and “no setbacks” may be a bit repetitive in these updates, but understand that in the context of the injury he received, it is simply incredible.  Many of us know Eric to be a physically strong man, but his mental strength and his personal discipline is equally resilient.  This really speaks to how well he has weathered this storm.

Additionally, there have been hundreds of messages inquiring about how to help Eric and his family.  To date we have mobilized a small number of family and friends to handle initial needs.  With time more assistance will be needed and we will provide a way for all to get involved.

Eric, Alicia, and Harper have just embarked on a very long road to recovery and are in the midst of trying to process it all.  Although Alicia and family have not requested donations, they understand that people can and will donate money to help Eric.  In order to ensure donations are properly routed to Eric we have created a GoFundMe site.

Once again, thank you for all your love and support!

*** Update 01/10/15 1800 hrs ***

Good evening everyone!  Today was another good day for Eric.  The medical staff is pleased with the pressures related to his brain injury and he has been taken off some medications over the last few days.  While Eric received a shave this morning the nurse wasn’t quite able to clean up around his chin.  So, much to Alicia’s annoyance ;), Eric is going to sport a goatee for a while.  Staying true to what most Firefighters do when they are off from work, Eric is going to grow some facial hair!
On a separate note, the incredible folks at CrossFit Anywhere in Folsom had a #WOD4Eric and fundraiser this morning.  Folsom Fire Engine 38 had the opportunity to witness firsthand the great comradery and love that exists in the crossfit community.  Eric and Alicia are so fortunate to have these people in their lives.

Thank you to everyone that has stopped by and said hello to Eric’s family.  You may not realize it, but your presence has really helped with processing all the emotions that come along with this journey.  You are encouraged to come down to show your support and share a few hugs with friends and family.  And if you do come, please bring pictures!
Amazing turnout this morning at CrossFit Anywhere in Folsom. These folks put in a workout this morning in support of Eric.

Meanwhile, there has been no official update today, we will try and get some information out to you ASAP.

Please remember to bring pictures of you and Eric when you visit at Sutter Roseville Medical Center!

Friday, January 9, 2015

Here are some wonderful pictures that have been dropped off at the hospital. Please, if you haven't come by yet, consider dropping by the hospital to say hi to the family. Although Eric still has limitations on his visitations, the family is very happy to see visitors.
***UPDATE*** 01/09/15  1030 hrs

Good Morning Everyone.  Eric passed the 72 hour mark this morning with no surprises or setbacks.  His status has remained unchanged, which is good.  Eric is receiving very little stimulation as his brain continues to heal and as such, the same visitation protocol stands.  Only Alicia and close family are seeing him at the moment.  We promise that this will change as time progresses and the medical staff continues to reevaluate his condition.

This does not preclude you from visiting Alicia and family!  And remember, bring a picture or a memento that reminds you of Eric.  These items will be placed in his room.  All the wonderful messages are being read online.  Check back here for additional updates, as there are some things in the works that we will share soon.

***UPDATE 01/08/14  1900 HRS***

Good evening everyone.  Eric continued to have another "good day" with no setbacks.  Alicia spent some time with him today along with some close friends and family.  The medical staff is still trying to minimize the stimulation thus no formal visitation has been allowed.  Remember that we are 60 hours into this journey and with time visitation will be available.  Folsom Fire personnel have begun to address some needs but know that as we travel down this road additional assistance will be identified.  We will reach out to our brothers and sisters in Fire, EMS and Law Enforcement in addition to all the wonderful people who have offered help.

Again, you are encouraged to come and visit Eric's family at Sutter Roseville Medical Center.  But before you come down, print out some of those old Facebook or Myspace pics.  Maybe even dig through some storage boxes and find a gem of a picture that will bring a smile to everyone's face.
**** UPDATE **** 01/08/15 1100 hrs

Eric had another “good night” per the medical staff.  His condition remained unchanged with no setbacks.  This is all positive news as we pray for his continued strength and healing.

Visitors are still welcome to see the family.  If you plan on coming down to the hospital please consider bringing a picture you like of Eric; something sweet, fun or adventurous of you and him.  When appropriate, we would like to adorn Eric’s room with lots of happy and positive memories.

*** UPDATE 01/07/15 1915hrs ***

Eric had a good day today when considering his accident just 36 hours ago. There were no significant changes in his status and more importantly no setbacks. The medical staff is pleased with this information.

His strength and perseverance is truly remarkable. Even as he heals, Eric finds a way to inspire us all. Your continued love and support is much appreciated.

There have been lots of on and off-duty personnel from Folsom Fire, Metro Fire and Sacramento City Fire visiting with Eric's family today. Eric's other family, his Crossfit Anywhere family has had a very strong presence at the hospital as well.

It speaks to how many lives Eric has touched. His genuine smile and warm presence is contagious!

Thank you to all who have shared your love here on FB or at the hospital with his family. We are all in this together.
Update

01/07/14 1430hrs

Just to clarify, visitors are welcome to see Alicia, Harper and family at SRMC, just no visitors are being allowed see Eric at this time.
Sorry for any confusion.
***UPDATE 0830 hrs***

NO VISITORS TODAY

Hey folks, quick update: No Visitors Today!

Thank you for your patience, but as previously mentioned, it is a very dynamic situation.

We will wait a few days until his condition improves at which point visitors will be encouraged by the medical staff.

Also, stay connected here to find out other ways to help. We will identify some needs soon.

Thank you again.
***UPDATE 1/7/15 0700 hours***

Aaron Hill and Tommy Zamora spent the night with Eric's family at the hospital. They did not have any additional info to report on Eric's status, other than to say that some family and close friends were able to be by his side for a while.

Eric is not having regular visitors at the moment. I understand there is interest in wanting to assist the family in way of food, house chores etc. We will be coordinating these efforts.

Please check back here for more information.

***Update 01/06/15 2200 hours***

Eric is having some trouble controlling his body temperature which is causing him to shiver.  This will cause the Intracranial Pressure (ICP) to increase.  To combat this, he has been placed on a paralytic medication.  Earlier today Eric had a drain placed in his skull to allow drainage of blood.  Fortunately there has been no blood coming from this drain as of late.  This is a very positive development.

There has been an outpouring of support, kind words and love from hundreds of friends and family.  It reminds us that Eric has touched so many of our lives with his kindness and warmth.  Please continue to think of him tonight and give your loved ones an extra hug and kiss before bed.

Update 01/06/15 1900 hours.

Eric received a third CT scan this afternoon which showed bruising to the frontal lobe of his brain.  The CT scan also eased concerns about bleeding around his brainstem.  There are no significant injuries from the neck down.  He remains on the ventilator and we have been told that the next 72 hours is crucial to his prognosis.
Eric is fighting very hard, which is significant when you consider the shape he is in.  Please pray for his continued strength and healing.  There was an incredible show of support today at SRMC.

Please keep Eric, Alicia and Harper in your thoughts and prayers.

Updates on Eric Williams

On the morning of January 6th, Eric was critically injured while running along a trail near Folsom Lake Crossing. He was struck from behind by a bicyclist. Eric received major head injuries as a result of the collision. Eric was cared for and transported to Sutter Roseville Medical Center by his brothers at Folsom Fire Department and Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District.

He has undergone two surgical procedures so far and remains in critical condition.

Please keep Eric, Alicia, Harper and the rest of his family in your prayers.
